Christmas Letter 2006

We are finally fulfilling Trish’s lifelong dream of writing a Christmas letter. We have enjoyed receiving and reading many of yours through the years and hope that you will enjoy ours.

2006 marks our four year anniversary. We have shared many great memories during that time and the past year has been no exception. We are currently living in West Jordan where we have been for the past 18 months. As homeowners, we have enjoyed the blessings of the parking our cars in the garage, having BBQ’s in our own backyard, painting and decorating, and the joys of not having neighbors live on all sides of us! We are also learning about the trials of home repairs like the time the garage door opener died this past summer. Trish was so impressed when Colin was able to replace it without calling for help!

On July 24th of this year, we welcomed a tiny new addition to our family. We were thrilled to have an 18 pound, 22 inch long, brown eyed, fluffy white haired dog move in with us. A five year-old Zuchon (Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise mix), Shaggie Maggie has been a dream come true and brings a lot of fun to our home. Maggie loves going on walks, having her belly rubbed, playing with her dog cousins (Dingo and Carly), and learning new tricks for treats. Her favorite new tricks are shaking hands with Colin and rolling over for Trish. Colin thinks that Maggie is just a perfect little angel, so we couldn’t resist a pair of wings and halo for her Halloween costume this year.

Trish started the year as a first grade teacher but has since moved to a new school and switched to the fourth grade. She is currently teaching year-round at Monte Vista Elementary School in South Jordan and loves the change. One thing she especially likes about fourth grade is that the kids don’t pee their pants anymore like the first graders used to do! The best thing about her third year of teaching has been the switch from full to part time, teaching only a half day every morning. In her new found free time Trish serves as Primary Chorister in our ward and she enjoys cooking dinner for Colin, playing piano, taking Maggie for walks, and spending more time with friends and family. Trish often hears Colin say how much he loves his “less-stressed wife.”

Colin is now in his 3rd year of working for the Church doing computer programming and web design. His projects this year have included the new LDS.org and JosephSmith.net. Colin is currently serving in the Elders Quorum presidency. Colin has recently developed an interest in reading books and watching movies about World War II history. He has also become a board game enthusiast, believing that you’re never too busy to pause and play a game. Colin loves his wife and dog (in that order) and enjoys following sports on TV, radio, internet, books, magazines, attending in person, playing fantasy sports, video games, and anything else Trish lets him do. Did we mention Colin loves his dog?

In April we were able to visit southern California during Trish’s spring break. Like two little kids, we played at Disneyland and California Adventures. We also toured Universal Studios, visited the beach, and attended an Angels’ baseball game. In June, our travels took us to Pennsylvania to visit Colin’s brother. During our week long trip back East, we enjoyed seeing our family and playing with our nephew. We also took the opportunity to visit Niagara Falls, the Sacred Grove and Hill Cumorah in Palmyra, and the Church History sites in Kirtland. Another unforgettable moment this summer was in July at Colin’s family reunion near Jackson, Wyoming. To Trish’s horror and later amusement, she witnessed as her husband was tossed from the boat while white-water rafting on the Snake River. Colin was lucky to survive not just one, but two spills into the river without harm or injury.

We hope this Christmas letter finds you safe and happy during this Christmas Season. We thank the Lord for our many blessings, including our friendship with you and your family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Love,

Colin, Trish, and Maggie

Brock's wedding

We had a fun time at Brock's wedding last week. Of course, it was a lot of work and preparation to get ready for the wedding dinner, reception, etc., but it was definitely worth it. Brock and Lindsay sure looked happy together and we wish them all the best in their new life.

Dell Taco
Trish looked great, curly hair, red dress, pretty smile; Me, wearing a tux for only the 3rd time in my life (top). Family and friends showed up in bunches to wish the bride and groom all the happiness. And Brock and Lindsay looked wonderful. It was a beautiful day, everything ran quite smoothly, and we were even able to sneak in a run to dell taco (right).

My little sis

My sister, Danielle. She came over to help us make cookies one time. It was pretty cool.

Christmas Advent Calendar

This is an advent calendar that Trish is making for Super Saturday coming up. It cost about $10.50 to make and is quite easy. Each piece is held onto the tree with velcro, and one ornament is added each day from Dec. 1 until Christmas day.

Didn't she do a cute job? If you want one, let us know and you are welcome to come to Super Saturday to make one.

Merry Christmas!
